Mindful Human Capital

Well-Being-leadMost of the companies are struggling, spending and working relentlessly on making their Human Capital to be more and more productive. Best of the reward programs and engagement activities are not producing the desired results. Human Capital challenges more or less are remaining same or getting worsen day by day. People at workplace in most of the times are less productive and less engaged not because they don’t want to produce the desired results but because of their own existing patterns, habits and nature that they themselves are not aware of. What companies want their people to achieve and what actually gets delivered is:

  1. Resistance instead of #Results
  2. Criticism instead of Creativity
  3. Excuses instead of Engagement
  4. Attrition instead of Achievements
  5. Pushback instead of Performance

All this is the result of deficit of mindfulness amongst people. #MonkeyMind of humans is conditioned for repetitive unproductive thinking. Solutions is not to help them learn but to make them “Unlearn”. Mindfull-ness needs to be replaced with #Mindfulness. Every individual in a team needs to be more and more mindful about what they think, how they act and what their actions will produce. Its mindfulness that would help organisations to have:

  1. Engaged & Purposeful Leaders
  2. Focussed and undivided approach of people to achieve results
  3.  #Creative, innovative and breakthrough ideas
  4. Synergy amongst teams and individuals
  5. Compassionate, Awared and Socially Responsible people will create best of the teams.

Are we really social animals?

Are we really social animals?

No other species in the world have created defence forces, police, judiciary & weapons. We as human beings have most potential threat from our own fellow members. We are ready to cut, kill and finish each other on account of petty issues like religion, caste, sex, ego, jealousy & authority. How come we still accept the fallacy of being called “social”…?

We have created governments & constitutions to resolve problems that we create ourself. Lets drop the hypocrisy and rotten beliefs to Break Free and create a world of mindful, compassionate and focussed human beings.

  1. Problem of your broken car is a solution to the problem of a car mechanic. He gets paid.
  2. Your problem of overflowing drainage is a solution to the problem of a plumber. He gets paid.
  3. Your problem of being sick is a solution to the Doctor’s problem. He too gets paid.
  4. You pay hefty amount of money to salons & gyms for your problem of looking good.

Every business idea is built as a solution to some problem. If there were no problems there were no opportunities.
Employer’s problem has come in form of solution to your problem. You were hired by your employer to solve some problems. If there were no problems none of us would have any agenda. Problems provide us a purpose to work on.  Aha…Other’s problems are solutions to your problems.

Your single most KRA in life is to solve problems within deadlines. Secret of success is – Free your Brakes to blame problems and Break Free to build capacity to solve more and more problems.

  • Treat your employees like Dogs, they will go on Barking about you. That’s what Dogs are supposed to do.
  • If you treat them like Donkeys they would not run like Horses but will go Hee-Hawing about you. That’s what Donkeys are supposed to do.

Each of the above employee experience strengthens their belief about their bosses. That’s the primary reason why people are often found complaining or criticising at work place about their Bosses. You would rarely notice people standing in a group and appreciating their Bosses.

Bad Boss is the number one reason why people leave or change their jobs where as HR departments work relentlessly on employee retention activities and controlling absenteeism. HR should shift their focus on ensuring a solid relationship between “Boss & Employee” and ensure that Bosses must only provide positive experience to their employees every time they interact with them.

  • Fittest people you see around are fit only because they have gone against their own comfort to be fit.
  • Most successful people you see around are so because they have outdone themselves every time they have done something.
  • Champions are not champions by defeating others but by breaking their own records.

First lets do a quick review of your story for 2014?

  1. Did you achieve all that you promised yourself in 2014?
  2. How many resolutions you really lived by?
  3. Were you looking for “Ideal Situations” and “Ideal Times” to do certain big things?
  4. Did you hold back that “big idea” for lack of resources and experience?
  5. Are you really happy and satisfied with the answers of all these questions and thinking that I would not let this happen in 2105?

2015 would have same set of 365 days but different set of external issues and problems, may be tougher than the last year. You would not have better answers to these question at the end of the year if you do not “Break free from your existing patterns & thinking”
